Jeff's Running (b)log -- I have to get in shape for wasatch back relay that I so foolishly signed up for, so I'm hoping a running log should help with my motivation (IE, peer pressure from team-mates who can now see what I am (or am not) doing.) :)
Only 2 minutes before I decided to go to the gym yesterday, my ankle started hurting for the first time in more than a week. At the gym I ran into Steven King, who basically gave me an assignment: run a real distance run by today's Wasatch Back team meeting, so that I can be sure whether or not I will be able to continue to be on the team. Good news is that we do have a backup if my ankle was not going to allow me to run.
I got up pretty early and did my 5 mile hill run into Orem, which is almost exactly like my hardest leg on the Wasatch Back. I did this on purpose, to be more sure of myself after the run. My ankle did really well, and I finished the run with about a 10:30 average.
At the team meeting, I basically said that "I'm in". I feel really confident that my ankle problem is under control (using a variety of treatments, herbal, mineral, and otherwise). The whole day I felt that I could run another time without any ankle problems.
