Well, in the end after all these months of training and mentally preparing, my Germany/Poland trip cost me the chance to run in the Wasatch Back Relay. This decision was made late Wednesday night when Steve King called me in my hotel room at JFK airport. Since then I've regretted this decision a lot, but that does not mean it was not the right decision. I bonked fairly hardcore Thursday evening about 8:00 p.m., and a little less so on Friday night. Would I not have made my goal pace of 10:30? It not being an "elite pace", I rather think so, but I could be wrong. Would the jet lag simply have helped me sleep better between legs? I'll never know. I'll never, ever know.
